GLA:D® pilot program
GLA:D® (Good Life with osteoArthritis: Denmark) is an evidence-based, standardised program designed to help people with hip or knee osteoarthritis. The 12-week program combines education and exercise to improve physical capacity and build confidence, often reducing the urgency for joint replacement or supporting better outcomes post-surgery.
ReturnToWorkSA has launched a pilot program* to make GLA:D® more accessible to injured workers—and we want you to be part of it.
- Separate fee structure: We’ve introduced a separate set of fees to help providers to offer GLA:D® to workers, with longer introductory appointments and small focussed, group sessions.
- Supported delivery: As a GLA:D® accredited physiotherapy provider, you’ll be able to offer this proven program to workers with accepted hip or knee injuries under a clear service framework.
- Make an impact: Help your clients improve function, delay surgery, and return to work sooner with a program backed by strong clinical evidence.
We’re now inviting expressions of interest from GLA:D® accredited providers interested in joining the pilot. The pilot will run for approximately 12 months, at which point there will be an evaluation of the program impact on worker outcomes, as well as provider experiences.
Why run a pilot program?
The benefits of GLA:D ® are well evidenced for those with knee and hip osteoarthritis conditions. ReturnToWorkSA acknowledges the potential benefits the program can have for workers with knee and hip injuries. The new fee codes and a service framework using set outcome measures will allow us to evaluate the programs impact on workers' recoveries from knee and hip injuries.
