Safety: every job, every day
1 October 2025
Throughout October, we’re supporting Safe Work Australia’s call for every workplace to prioritise 'safety: every job, every day'.
In the 2024 financial year, ReturnToWorkSA accepted 13,821 claims, which works out to be an average of 37 claims a day.
The most common injuries were:
- Traumatic joint/ligament and muscle/tendon injuries
- Wounds, lacerations, amputations and internal organ damage
- Musculoskeletal and connective tissue diseases.
Safe Work Australia highlights ‘safety: every job, every day’ means proactively managing WHS risks so you can protect your workers from all injuries. It’s not just best practice – it’s required under WHS laws. Visit SafeWork SA for the South Australian requirements and instructional materials.
It’s vital for all workplaces regardless of occupation, industry, location and size to prioritise safety for their workers.
This Safe Work Month, Safe Work Australia will be stepping through the risk assessment process, with practical resources to guide discussions and activities for now and future use. The focus for each week is below, but you don’t need to wait – you can explore these resources at a time that suits you.
No matter whether you’re an employer, sole trader, contractor, worker, health and safety representative (HSR) or industry organisation or union, Safe Work Month is for everyone.
