Building mentally healthy workplaces

(01 October 2026)

Take action this October

Alongside National Safe Work Month, October is also Mental Health Month. This year’s theme, 'Find Your Way to Wellbeing', encourages us to be mindful of our capacity, respect our limits, and to prioritise our own wellbeing. On October 10, World Mental Health Day, provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of mental health and wellbeing.

One of the strongest protective factors for good mental health is connection, whether with colleagues, friends, family, or community. Through everyday acts of care, kindness, conversation and connection – we can support one another to thrive.

Together, Safe Work Month and Mental Health Month remind us that a safe workplace protects both physical and psychological health. Creating mentally healthy workplaces starts with building awareness and understanding. Workplace education helps establish a shared language around psychosocial hazards and risks, creating the foundation for meaningful conversations and positive action.

Small actions can make a big difference. Explore the resources and opportunities available to support your wellbeing, strengthen workplace safety, and help create a mentally healthy workplace for everyone.
