Recapping Mental Health Month - but don’t stop now!
Mental Health Month which is held in October is an ideal opportunity for workplaces, as part of the community, to provide a spotlight on mental health, have meaningful conversations and to pose the question “What more can my workplace do to create a positive, thriving and healthy workplace”?
With this in mind, ReturnToWorkSA proudly sponsored the Business SA Mind at Work Series of Events during Mental Health Month. The events provided many opportunities for workplaces to get involved and take action such as:
- participating in the Mind Your Health Workplace Challenge where 343 businesses signed up to this event in October. It consisted of a Mentally Healthy Workplace Challenge for Business Owners and Managers as well as a 31 Day Employee Challenge encouraging employees to do just one small thing every day to help support good mental health
- viewing the weekly mental health webinars during October covering topics such as practical tips to create a mentally healthy workplace, a focus on good mental health, men’s mental health as well as mental health for the younger generation of workers
- attending the SA’s Biggest Mentally Healthy Business Breakfast held at Adelaide Oval, with 330 people coming along to enjoy breakfast, network and hear from a range of speakers passionate about mental health.
Mental health does not stop at the end of Mental Health Month
Mental health does not stop at the end of Mental Health Month. Now is a good time to keep the momentum going or, if you couldn’t get involved in October, to make a start. There are some really good tools, resources and supports to keep mental health front of mind at your workplace. These include:
- the Business SA Mind Your Health Workplace Challenge 2021 and videos which are available throughout the year for your workplace to use. Visit the Business SA website to get started!
- the Healthy Workplaces website developed in Collaborative Partnership which provides a central source of information, tools and resources to help South Australian businesses create healthy, safe and thriving workplaces
- the ReturnToWorkSA website for more information about mentally healthy workplaces and the free events we offer through our employer skill building workshops.
